Located at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Strait Richmond Hospital, Primary Care (or detoxification) Units offer the following:
• Assessments
• Safe, effective and therapeutic withdrawal management (detoxification)
• Addiction education and counselling
• Discharge plans and referrals
Admission to the Primary Care Unit is based on individual need, admission criteria and bed availability. Referrals are accepted from family members, professionals and members of self-help groups. Self-referrals are also accepted.
